Emitel was awarded in Industry 4.0 category for the Smart City project implemented in Piaseczno. The company, in cooperation with Piaseczno City and Commune Office, designed and built the network and provided the sensors for the needs of smart city solutions.

The awards were granted in two competitions: “2021 Hit” and “2020 Leader”. The first group was meant to award the best solutions which already are or will be available in 2021, whereas the second one covered institutions and businesses which implemented a spectacular project in the field of modern technologies in 2020. In the first competition, emphasis is put on future, trends and opportunities, while the second is dominated by the present, i.e. current technology at its best. Leaders were selected in three categories: Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions and Industry 4.0, while Hits were chosen in two categories – Banking and Insurance and Other Financial Institutions.

The category of Industry 4.0, in which Emitel was awarded, includes entities from the industrial sector involved in production or distribution (especially from the chemical, mechanical, automotive, electronic, petroleum, metallurgic and electric engineering trades), which, in 2020, introduced IT solutions and products based on innovations. Similarly to the aforementioned categories, their aim should be more efficient customer service, improvement in the activity of the company reporting the project, launching new products or expanding the offer.

“Implementation of the Smart City concept may be a powerful driving force for the Polish economy, yielding measurable benefits for residents, public administration units and businesses,” said Maciej Staszak, Vice President of the Board of Emitel S.A. –“I am really happy that Emitel is in possession of solutions which significantly contribute to the development of cities in Poland, through the application of state-of-the-art technologies and a growing trust towards the Internet of things,” added Maciej Staszak.

Awards in both competitions are presented by the Jury who assess the solutions reported by companies and institutions in terms of their innovativeness and utilization of modern IT concepts and products in many domains of economy, from the sphere of services and customer assistance to production activity. The awarded companies included the Warsaw Chopin Airport and the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency.

Technological competitions of Gazeta Bankowa are among the polls with the longest tradition on the Polish digital market. This year, the “Leader” competition was organized for the 19th time, and the “Hit” competition for the 14th time. The aim of TechnoBiznes is to present an important role of technology in the functioning of businesses, its significance in gaining business benefits and competitive advantage, as well as its increasing share in the development of both the national economy and the high-tech market.

This year’s edition of the Responsible Business Ranking involved more than 80 companies, and the number of enterprises interested in the ranking was twice as high. Ultimately, 70 companies entered the main list. Emitel was among top fifteen companies, having scored 80 out of 100 points.

The results of the 15th Responsible Business Ranking and Positive Impact Start-ups were announced during a virtual event on June 18th, 2021. The gala was organized by Koźmiński Business Hub, conducting activity as part of Leon Koźmiński Academy. This year’s edition of the Responsible Business Ranking attracted a numerous group of participants, which proves that even during the days of the epidemic, businesses operating in Poland are aware of major challenges they are to face, and do not forget about the social role they have to play. The first place in the ranking was occupied by BNP Paribas Bank Polska, followed by Santander Bank Polska and Orange Polska. Distinctions were awarded, among others, to PKN Orlen, Coca-Cola HBC Polska, Jeronimo Martins Polska, Auchan and Raben Group.

“I would like to congratulate all the companies awarded as part of this year’s ranking. It is worth emphasizing that, despite the challenges related to the coronavirus pandemic, sustainable development has remained one of the top priorities, and businesses are eager to accept the effort related to responsibility towards various stakeholders. For Emitel’s management and employees, social responsibility is an extremely important aspect of our everyday work,” said Andrzej J. Kozłowski, President of the Board of Emitel S.A.

“In a way, a side effect of the pandemic was a major upheaval in many businesses, which also changed the way of thinking about sustainable development and facing civilization challenges. Since business leaders learned that a crisis is possible, they could, finally, start talking about forms and necessary stages of adjustment. Carbon footprint measurement, decarbonization of delivery chains, closing raw material circulation, D&I departments in every company, responsible innovations, multi-sectoral partnerships, energy efficiency, sustainable financing, new organizational structures for CSR are just a few examples of brand new approaches,” commented Prof. Bolesław Rok of Leon Koźmiński Academy, co-originator of the Responsible Business Ranking.

The Responsible Business Ranking, first published in 2007, is the only list of companies operating in Poland, evaluated in terms of corporate social responsibility (CSR) management system. In 2021, RBR’s partner is the Responsible Business Forum [Forum Odpowiedzialnego Biznesu]. Deloitte is the substantive partner, responsible for review of the answers, whereas Dziennik Gazeta Prawna daily is the media partner. The ranking has been created by Professor Bolesław Rok of the Centre for the Research on Positive Impact Entrepreneurship at Leon Koźmiński Academy and Jarosław Horodecki, an analyst.

More than 200 companies operating on the Polish market have already taken part in the ranking. The ranking provides an opportunity to compare the results in particular areas of CSR achieved by different companies, and is a valuable instrument facilitating arrangement and development of corporate responsibility strategies.

Emitel has once again been granted the prestigious Top Employer Poland title. The company is one of 67 companies awarded by Top Employers Institute. The certificate obtained proves high commitment of Emitel to provision of attractive working environment, by implementing high standards in the field of HR management.

Implementation of high HR management standards, provision of friendly and attractive working environment and always putting the employees’ needs first – this is an approach which characterizes Emitel. The fact that the Company has once again been given the Top Employer Poland title proves best that the chosen direction of development, practices and HR standards is correct.

“Emitel is created by top specialists and people with passionate devotion to their work. This mixture of talent, commitment and passion is a true driving force behind Emitel. The Top Employer certificate confirms that Emitel offers working conditions typical of the best employers on the market.”– says Andrzej J. Kozłowski, Emitel’s Chairman of the Board.

Obtaining a certificate is preceded by a long validation process and requires meeting a number of conditions. A questionnaire survey covering key areas related to HR management is verified based on the evidence of existence of appropriate procedures, processes and practices. The whole certification process is concluded by an independent audit conducted by external auditors.

“Despite a difficult year we experienced, Emitel proved that they put the employees of their organization first. We are proud to present this year’s awards and we congratulate the organizations which obtained the certificates in their countries as part of the Top Employers Institute programme” – says David Plink, CEO of Top Employers Institute.

The Top Employer title is granted only to organizations whose offer for employees meets the highest international standards.  Top Employers Institute certifies organizations based on an assessment of a questionnaire covering best practices in the field of HR management. It encompasses 6 domains, including 20 topics, among others: HR strategy, working environment, talent sourcing, training and development, well-being, diversity and integration. As part of the programme, certificates and awards were granted to more than 1600 best employers in 120 countries/regions, on five continents.

The “Poland’s Most Important Companies” ranking reflects significant trends in contemporary business. Apart from economic indicators, the editorial staff of Rzeczpospolita took into consideration the role played by the company in the social reality – from questions of taxes, to the level and forms of employment, to efforts benefitting local communities, to environmental protection measures. The company’s functioning during the coronavirus epidemic was observed as well, alongside its immunity to market shocks and the measures benefitting its employees and the society in this difficult time.

The “Poland’s Most Important Companies” ranking was compiled in two categories: corporate group and individual company. The laureates were selected by the ranking’s jury composed of acclaimed economists and market analysts. The project is part of the celebrations of the centenary of the Rzeczpospolita daily. It is under the honorary patronage of the Ministry of Development. Besides Emitel, the companies most important for Poland included, among others: PKN Orlen, PGNiG, PGE, PZU, Grupa Azoty, and Jeronimo Martins.

“Thank you very much for the distinction which is awarded in a special year – the year of the hundredth birthday of the Rzeczpospolita daily. It is an honour to be among companies that are key for the future of the Polish economy,” said Andrzej J. Kozłowski, the President of the Management Board of Emitel.

Emitel has been accompanying Poles in their everyday lives for over 50 years. It is responsible for broadcasting terrestrial television and radio signal throughout Poland. It also maintains important wireless communication nodes for many national services and institutions.

Due to the epidemiological situation in the country and across the world, it is key to maintain the continuity of service provision, since television and radio are important communication channels for the authorities and institutions engaged in the fight with the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, and for many Poles, especially seniors, they are the only source of information on important events.

“A distinction from such a prestigious daily as Rzeczpospolita is evidence that Emitel is one of the leaders and an important participant in the economic bloodstream in Poland. It is an award for all the past and present Emitel employees who have been writing the history of this company,” Emitel’s President added.

Emitel’s operations are executed in a fully responsible manner, towards the stakeholders, the business setting – but, most importantly, the environment, the protection of which is the highest priority for the company. The innovative solutions built by Emitel for the Smart Cities, executed in cooperation with local governments, correspond perfectly with this position, for example the installation of sensors for measuring the fill level of trash cans, flood sensors for monitoring the water level in rivers and main drainage ditches, and other sensors that inspect the environment (temperature, noise level, or humidity).

Emitel obtained the prestigious title of Top Employer. The company thus confirms being one of the best employers in Poland

Emitel’s most valuable asset is a team full of passion and commitment made up of high-class specialists in the field of telecommunications and broadcasting. It consists of people responsible for, among others, the functioning and reliability of the largest television distribution platform in Poland.

– The value of Emitel is defined by the sum of talents of all members of our team. We are happy that it is made up of top-class specialists and enthusiasts who are devoted to their work. All our employees are united by four company values: positive energy and enthusiasm in action, searching for simple solutions, a sense of urgency, as well as the need for development and curiosity about the world. We listen to our employees and try to respond best to their needs by creating unique conditions and a great working atmosphere. This is confirmed by the annual Employee Opinion Survey – Emipuls, where the result of employee involvement increases significantly – from 70.5% in 2015 to 90.8% in 2019. We are therefore particularly pleased with the Top Employer award – says Andrzej J. Kozłowski, President of the Management Board of Emitel.

Organisations certified as Top Employers provide their employees with excellent working conditions thanks to the implementation of high HR standards and creating the best work environment in line with the “people-first” principle.

To be recognized as a Top Employer, the organisation must prove that by implementing many HR practices, it helps to enrich the world of work to provide employees with excellent development and working conditions. Organisations that have received a certificate are a great example of commitment to continuous improvement of HR practices and taking care of their employees. Congratulations! – says David Plink, CEO of Top Employers Institute

Obtaining such a certificate is preceded by a long validation process and the need to meet many conditions. The first step is to meet the formal requirements to enter the Programme, which was, among others: audit, appropriate number of employees or existence of formal HR processes in the organisation. The next step is a questionnaire survey of over 600 HR practices covered in 10 thematic areas, which covered key areas related to the management of human capital. Then, during the validation meeting, HR practices are evaluated by an external specialist, and the questionnaire responses verified based on evidence of the existence of appropriate procedures, processes and practices. The final stage was the independent external audit of the certification process carried out by external auditors

The Top Employer title is awarded only to organizations the employee offer of which meets the highest international standards.  In this year’s edition of the Top Employers Institute survey, over 1,600 organisations in 119 countries / regions on five continents were distinguished. Obtaining the certificate requires confirmation of the use of best practices in 10 areas: talent strategy, human resource planning, talent acquisition, onboarding, training and development, performance management, leadership skills development, career and succession planning, salary and benefits, as well as culture.

About Emitel

Emitel S.A. belongs to the American Alinda Capital Partners fund and is the largest terrestrial radio and television infrastructure operator in Poland. For over 50 years, thanks to Emitel, television and radio signals can be received in all Polish households. In addition to services for television and radio broadcasters, Emitel offers altitude infrastructure for mobile operators, designs and installs modern wireless communication systems, participates in the creation of smart cities and is involved in the preparation of the construction of 5G network in Poland.

The award was presented during a press conference, which served to sum up the first implementation stage of the Employee Capital Plans Programme, which encompassed the largest enterprises. Paweł Borys, President of the Management Board of the Polish Development Fund, handed them to representatives of four companies: Emitel, Budimex, EY Polska and Komfort.

Promoting retirement savings is one of the key social challenges we face today. In a situation where a relatively small group of Poles save for their retirement, creating conditions that are conducive to doing so becomes paramount. The Employee Capital Plans are a perfect solution for this challenge, and the employers have an opportunity to play an important role in promoting the programme.

We took the implementation of the Employee Capital Plans seriously. First of all, we believe that the programme itself is very good and beneficial for the employees. Apart from that, Emitel’s operations are characterised by corporate social responsibility and sustainable development principles. What is more, this programme can also serve as a way to unleash new developmental stimuli in the Polish economy. In the process of implementing the Employee Capital Plans, we focused on broad and open internal communication and invited our employees to choose the institutions that would manage the funds. This allowed us to address many doubts and concerns right from the get-go”, said Andrzej J. Kozłowski, President of the Management Board of Emitel S.A.

At Emitel, more than 70% of all employees decided to participate in the Employee Capital Plans Programme. This means that the programme enjoys trust of our employees from the very start”, Andrzej J. Kozłowski added.

Emitel has won numerous awards and distinctions in the field of human capital management. Recently, the company has won the “Investor in Human Capital” emblem, awarded for the second consecutive time by the Digital Knowledge Observatory Foundation. This year, the company has also received the Employee-Friendly Employer title, presented by the National Committee of the NSZZ “Solidarność” trade union with honorary patronage of the President of the Republic of Poland.

For the second consecutive time, Emitel has won the “Investor in Human Capital” emblem. The programme has been run since 2006 by the Digital Knowledge Observatory Foundation.

The aim of the programme, addressed to companies and institutions operating in Poland, is to continuously improve the level of human resources management, promoting the importance of investing in human capital, as well as accumulate knowledge about employers’ practices and initiatives.

Awarding us the ‘Investor in Human Capital’ emblem means that we set a very high bar for ourselves – once again, we joined the ranks of Laureates, who meet the highest standards, thanks to Emitel’s HR policy. It is also worth pointing out that the ‘Investor in Human Capital’ Programme is based entirely on the opinions about the employer held and shared by the employees,” said Andrzej J. Kozłowski, President of the Management Board of Emitel S.A.

The “Investor in Human Capital” emblem is a distinction wholly based on the Employees’ power of voice and recommendations. The other winners of this year’s edition of the programme were Man, Alexander Mann Solutions, Dachser, Link 4, NetWorkS, Bricoman, Caparol, Bocian Pożyczki, Döhler and T-Mobile.

The “Investor in Human Capital” Programme is run under the patronage of the most important public and private institutions. The set of surveys, which was developed over the course of many years, pays attention to the opinions of employees on the most important areas of the organisation’s operations. The programme focuses on encouraging employers to pay attention to the needs of their employees and on supporting companies in creating friendly workplaces.

Currently, the programme is based on employee satisfaction and engagement surveys. In the era of an employee job market, taking a closer look at issues related to the willingness of the staff to engage in everyday duties – as well as to express their positive opinions about the employees – becomes a crucial thing to do.

The Employee-Friendly Employer Contest has been organized for 11 years by the National Committee of the “Solidarity” Trade Union under the honorary patronage of Poland’s President. The objective of the contest is to promote employers who distinguish themselves by applying good practices in such fields as compliance with the labor laws.

The Certification Committee evaluated the applications sent to the contest considering, among others, compliance with the labor laws, conclusion of collective agreements, concluding employment contracts for an unspecified period of time, trade union membership rates, and functioning of workers’ councils. Emitel S.A. received an award along with such companies as Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa S.A., Kopalnia Soli “Wieliczka” S.A., and Poznańskie Zakłady Zielarskie “Herbapol.”

“We are involved in a lot of projects intended to create a friendly and attractive work place for the employees of Emitel. People are our greatest asset and this is why we pay a lot of attention to such matters as safety and direct or indirect support to our employees and their families. The results of our HR policies are manifested in the annual study of the level of involvement and satisfaction of our employees, which has lots of participants who express very good opinions about our company,” said Andrzej Kozłowski, the President of the Management Board of Emitel S.A.

Candidates for the “Employee-Friendly Employer” title are nominated by the “Solidarity” Trade Union organizations in respective companies. The winners of the contest respect the rights of employees and conduct social dialog in their organizations. The certificate may be used for three years after it is awarded. The statuettes will be handed by President Andrzej Duda on 19 March 2019.

The “Investor in Human Capital” emblem is the first Polish award for companies that distinguishes their staffing policies. The title is awarded on the basis of a survey of employee opinions.

Winning the emblem means that Emitel has joined the prestigious group of Laureates who meet the highest standards in the field of HR policies implemented in the companies and at the same time these activities are both recognised and appreciated by employees.

For the last 4 years, Emitel has been conducting the anonymous Emipuls employee engagement survey. The 2018 edition was completed by a record number of employees – 87.4% of all staff. 91.6% of them gave a positive answer to the question regarding job satisfaction.

The “Investor in Human Capital” emblem has been awarded since 2002. It is the first and only programme based entirely on employee opinions. The ranks of laureates to date include companies such as Link4, Fedex Express, Bricoman and Man.

Emitel has been awarded the prestigious title of Trustworthy Employer in the Safety category, which we won in the 8th edition of the “Trustworthy Employer” Competition. The Competition is organised by the Polish Chamber of Commerce and the “Poland: Now” Polish Promotional Programme Foundation, with its main objective being promoting responsible labour and social policies, in line with European standards among employers. The “Trustworthy Employer” title is awarded to organisations which use effective and efficient solutions in their labour policies, taking into account the professional development of their staff and securing their rights.

Apart from Emitel, the list of this year’s laureates of the Competition included companies such as Kapsch Telematic Services, Leroy Merlin Polska, Benefit Systems, Lux Med and Volkswagen Polska. On behalf of Emitel, the Trustworthy Employer statuette was received yesterday by Aleksander Skołożyński – Director of the Finance Division and Member of the Management Board of Emitel S.A.
