Emitel was classified as one of the most sustainable companies in Poland, taking the 6th place in the TOP 15 most sustainable companies ranking prepared by the Bankier.pl portal in cooperation with Monte Vero Audit and Advisory. Based on a detailed analysis of 74 ESG reports compliant with GRI and ESRS standards, the ranking singled out Emitel for its environmental performance in particular.

In view of the diversity of standards against which ESG reports are prepared, the metrics adopted have been designed to address the common challenges and key issues of sustainability reporting, namely E – environmental impact, S – social impact, G – corporate governance. Each of these areas was assessed as equivalent, meaning that a maximum of 300 points could be obtained – 100 points for each. The best-rated company was awarded 100 points and the worst-rated company got 0 points. Between two and three metrics derived from data in the reports were included in each area. All indicators used were expressed in numerical values, meaning that qualitative data were not included.

Emitel scored 186 points, ranking 6th, i.e. highest of all companies in the telecommunications sector. A special mention went to the ‘Environment’category, where it scored as high as 90 points, the second-highest ranking in this category. Emitel scored 35 points in the social area (‘Social’), and 61 points in the corporate governance category (‘Governance’), confirming the company’s comprehensive approach to sustainability.

“Corporate social responsibility is a commitment to all stakeholders. Emitel’s presence among ESG leaders confirms that our activities have a real, positive impact on the environment and contribute to shaping a sustainable future,” said Andrzej Kozłowski, CEO of Emitel.

The Bankier.pl and Monte Vero ranking is the first initiative of its kind in Poland aimed at promoting the highest standards of sustainability. The compilation based on measurable indicators took into account various aspects of ESG from environmental protection to social action, to governance standards. As the organisers pointed out, the ranking is intended to be a tool for investors and stakeholders to support transparency and evaluation of companies’ actions. Authors of the report pointed out that it was based on an analysis of 74 ESG reports, and Emitel was one of the few companies that chose to report despite there being no formal requirement to publish a report.

“We have been reporting data in an accessible and easy-to-compare way for several years now – this is also how we understand our social responsibility. It is crucial for us to continuously strengthen the trust of our stakeholders and promote good sustainability practices in Poland,” said Agnieszka Sobucka, Director of the Marketing and Communications Office at Emitel S.A.

The ESG report provides further evidence of Emitel’s commitment to sustainability, which is reflected in both the company’s strategy and day-to-day operational activities. The ranking indicates the direction for companies to follow, and Emitel has been striving for years to be a role model for other companies, and not only in the telecommunications industry.
