Emitel – Poland’s leading operator of terrestrial broadcasting infrastructure – has entered into a strategic partnership with the Łazarski Aviation Academy, a research unit operating within the renowned Łazarski University. The company has become the Strategic Partner of a new specialisation within the Administration degree programme – Drone Traffic Administration – aimed at preparing future managers to work on commercial projects involving unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
Recognised by the Perspektywy ranking as one of Poland’s top private universities, Łazarski University has for years been educating experts in law, medicine, and traditional aviation. The rapid development of the UAV sector along with evolving regulatory frameworks, has created an increasing demand for professionals capable of managing airspace shared by passenger aircraft and drones operating in military, civil and commercial missions.
Developed in close cooperation with Emitel experts, the new course emphasises a practical, industry-oriented approach to education. As a Strategic Partner, Emitel will co-create elements of the curriculum, deliver mentoring sessions for students, and involve the most promising graduates in drone-related projects conducted by the company.
“Emitel has the expertise to support the training of future UAV industry managers. We are developing our Drone Labs project and preparing to become Poland’s national U-Space operator. We also recognise that as our drone operations expand, the market demand for qualified specialists will continue to grow. By investing in education today, we are helping to build the strong talent base of tomorrow,” said Maciej Pilipczuk, President of the Management Board of Emitel S.A.
Emitel Drone Labs is one of the company’s key research initiatives, launched in 2024. Its objective is to design and implement wireless drone detection infrastructure, and ultimately to provide services as a national U-Space Provider – managing airspace for commercial drone operations.
As part of the partnership with Łazarski University, two Emitel experts will join the Academic Advisory Board. Jarosław Niechcielski, Director of the Regulatory and External Relations Development Office, will provide guidance on business partnerships and the commercialisation of R&D projects. Wojciech Szczęsny, Marketing Coordinator, will advise on public communication surrounding emerging technologies and the popularisation of drone-related topics.
“Having Emitel on board brings not only academic value for our students, but also represents a concrete step towards integrating the academic environment with the rapidly developing drone industry. Drone technologies are transforming the way we perceive and manage airspace – from transport and monitoring to safety and traffic management. Thanks to such partnerships, we can prepare specialists who will help shape the future of a safe and sustainable airspace,” said Professor Anna Konert, PhD, Director of Łazarski Aviation Academy.
The first cohort of Drone Traffic Administration students began their studies in September 2025. In addition to academic classes, they will have the opportunity to participate in meetings with aviation and business experts – including guest lectures by Emitel representatives.
