Telewizja Puls – the third largest commercial TV station in Poland, the first movie television station (more than 1,000 films broadcast annually), the first family station, the leader among children’s audiences, the broadcaster of the Puls and PULS 2 channels, and Emitel S.A. – the leading operator of terrestrial broadcasting infrastructure in Poland – are introducing a new functionality to the PlayPuls HbbTV service – “Puls on demand”. This gives viewers access to modern features such as rewinding and pausing live programmes (Timeshift), replaying already started programmes (Startover), and the possibility to watch programmes from the past (Catchup). Thanks to CDN Emitel’s advanced content distribution system, broadcasts are smooth and available in the highest quality.

The PlayPuls service means even more movies, series, animation and entertainment on your TV! The application, developed by Emitel on behalf of Telewizja Puls, is an intuitive and modern tool which makes it easier for viewers to use on-demand content available on TV Puls and PULS 2 channels. Thanks to the “Puls on demand” function, you can select your favourite programme up to 7 days back and rewatch it at a convenient moment, as well as pause or rewind the programme to the beginning using an intuitive menu with the TV remote control. Thanks to this service, viewers of Telewizja Puls can make the most of the broadcaster’s extensive offer – the “Puls on demand” catalogue includes, among other things, feature films or award-winning series of in-house productions such as “Lombard. Życie pod zastaw” and “Dzielnica strachu”. Likewise, the youngest viewers and their parents can revisit their favourite animations from the Puls Kids band.

In addition, Emitel’s CDN infrastructure ensures smooth transmission and fast access to content. Implemented mechanisms, such as geo-blocking and one-time links, provide security and control over the available material.

– We are making the most of the potential provided by the Internet so that our viewers have even better access to Pulse’s diverse offerings. The HbbTV PlayPuls service and its new functionalities are not the only solutions we are implementing at Puls – we will soon be announcing further projects. – said Dariusz Dąbski, President of Puls Television.

– Modern technology is changing the way we use television. By implementing new solutions for Puls Television, we give viewers more freedom and comfort in watching their favourite programmes. The ability to rewind, pause and rewatch programmes at your convenience is the future of television, which we are now realising. In addition, the implementation of video-on-demand (“Puls on demand”) gives viewers even more flexibility in accessing content. We are pleased that Emitel can be part of this technological change -said Maciej Staszak, Vice President Emitel.

– We are very pleased that together with Emitel, our technology partner, we have launched the HbbTV PlayPuls service. We wanted the application to be user-friendly and intuitive and the catalogue with the programme offers to be clear. We are satisfied with the result we have achieved, are working on expanding the offer and are also planning numerous additional functionalities that will please our viewers. – said Mariusz Kolodziejski, Technical Director, Puls Television.

The solutions implemented by Emitel are available to viewers of digital terrestrial television, which remains one of the most popular and free-of-charge platforms for access to a wide range of television channels. Thanks to services such as those implemented by Emitel for Telewizja Puls, the terrestrial TV offer becomes even more attractive and functional. The new on-demand content access service further enriches the capabilities of terrestrial TV, offering users the convenience previously known mainly from streaming platforms.

Emitel continuously invests in the development of modern technologies, adapting its services to changing market expectations. The implementation of the HbbTV application for Puls Television is another step towards modern and interactive television broadcasting, available to everyone.
