In this year’s edition of the GRESB benchmark, Emitel scored 80 points, compared to an average score of 58 points for comparable companies. The company ended up on the second place among its counterparts and was on the top of the list of 393 participants from around the world.
The GRESB survey, which has been conducted for a decade now, analyses infrastructure enterprises in terms of their environment, social responsibility and corporate governance activities. The survey is considered a key benchmark for funds that invest in infrastructure companies worldwide. GRESB BV – the company conducting the survey – is a subsidiary of Green Business Certification Inc., a non-profit organisation registered in the United States.
Emitel has been participating in the survey since 2016. This year, despite the ever-increasing requirements, the company managed to maintain its result from the previous edition and scored 80 points, which gave it the second place among infrastructural companies in Europe, 14th place among 236 European participants of the survey and 24th place among 393 participating companies from around the world.
Emitel’s high-rise facilities are spread all over the country, which is why the company pays particular attention to the care for the people and the natural environment in the immediate vicinity of broadcasting stations. Emitel implements environmentally-friendly waste management by using solutions enabling waste recycling, as well as a waste neutralisation process for waste that could not be prevented and for which recycling was not possible, implemented in line with the principles of environmental protection.
“Our high score proves that Emitel is constantly striving to improve its standards regarding social responsibility and sustainable development. We are carrying out numerous projects in the field of environmental protection, and we uphold all the standards while preparing our investments,” said Aleksander Skołożyński, Member of the Management Board of Emitel S.A. for Finance.
Emitel is one of the leading Polish companies implementing the principles of corporate social responsibility, as evidenced by numerous CSR awards and distinctions received by the company in 2018, including, among others, distinction in the “Healthy Employee, Healthy Company” competition organised by the Employers of Poland organisation, the title of the Trustworthy Employer awarded by the Polish Chamber of Commerce and the “Poland: Now” Polish Promotional Programme Foundation, the Investor in Human Capital emblem awarded by the Digital Knowledge Observatory Foundation (formerly the Management Observatory Foundation) and the “Employee-Friendly Employer” emblem and statuette awarded by NSZZ “Solidarność” under the honorary patronage of the President of the Republic of Poland.
