Social engagement

In 2021 we became a partner of the 18th International Chopin Piano Competition – the most important musical event in Poland and one of the most important musical events in the world.

Emitel was the partner of the series of “Quarantine in Hi-Fi” concerts, broadcast in September 2023. This initiative, which was part of Radio Dla Ciebie’s channel line-up, enabled classical music lovers to engage with their beloved sounds.

As a partner of the project, Emitel supported solo concerts on Radio Kraków. Thanks to our engagement the Romana Bobrowska studio has gained a new concert piano, which will allow for the organisation of world-class performances.

We regularly provide financial support to the Ecclesia Villanovensis Foundation, which uses the transferred funds to renovate and maintain St. Anne’s Church in Wilanów, the district of Warsaw where Emitel’s headquarters are located.

For many years we have been founding the TOTUS TUUS awards in the “Achievements in the field of Christian culture” category. These awards are given out to people and entities promoting the teachings of St. John Paul II by the Dzieło Nowego Tysiąclecia Foundation.

We are an active participant of local initiatives, which is why we are delighted to support a festival which aims to cultivate a multi-genre musical culture and to commemorate the figure of Krystyna Jamroz.

For a few years we have been the patron of the “Zwolnieni z Teorii” national social studies contest for the youth. Our employees support the participants of the endeavour in the implementation of projects related to the idea of smart cities.

We support the Foundation for the Development of Radiocommunication and Multimedia Technologies in all its activity in the field of education and conducting scientific research as well as promoting entrepreneurship in the radiocommunication and multimedia technologies sectors.

Emitel funds scholarships for students and provides electronic equipment allowing for the conducting of educational projects.

We support scientific research connected with the observation of plant development related to climate change.

In November, we celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Babice Radio-Station. On this occasion, we financially supported the pressing of commemorative medals which incorporated fragments of the towers’ iron structures. For our cooperation, we were honoured with one of them. We also provided vacuum tubes, which will become part of the exhibition of the facility’s museum.

As Poland’s industry leader of IoT and Smart City, we support publications that delve into the concept of smart cities.

In November 2023, we took part in the 6th edition of #WszyscyDoWioseł (free translation: ”all hands on deck”) organised by the Legia Warsaw Foundation, where, together with other partners, we supported the Helpline for Children and Young People.

This year, four teams representing Emitel took part in the campaign. The participants rowed the boat for 11 minutes in every round of the event – exactly as long as the average hotline phone call lasts. Four teams of four – our #TeamEmitel – rowed the sailing ergometers for 176 minutes total, which made up for a combined distance of 37 kilometres and 342 metres. This way, we provided resources to finance nearly 225 hotline phone calls.

As a partner of the Dziecięca Fantazja Foundation, we have supported an event for the disabled pupils and their families organised in the Warsaw Zoological Garden.

Employee volunteering

An important element of Emitel’s organisational culture is a commitment to helping others. Supporting the idea of subsidiarity, Emitel launched an employee volunteer programme in 2022 to support refugees and help Ukraine. Guided by social solidarity, our volunteers, among other things, helped to adapt a residential building that we donated to the “It’s Worth Together” Foundation as a shelter for refugees from Ukraine.

We provide organisational and technical support to our employees who wish to volunteer. Each volunteer can also benefit from two more days off annually for social activities.

UA1 channel of Ukrainian public television

Thanks to the cooperation between Polish Television and Emitel, terrestrial TV viewers with TV sets connected to the Internet with the HbbTV standard have access to the first programme of Ukrainian public television UA Perszyj. The UA1 channel is dedicated to Ukrainian citizens living in Poland and broadcast in their native language. The programme is available on position 95 of MUX-8 and through the TVP GO (mobile and HbbTV apps), TVP VOD (mobile and Smart TV apps) and the TVP Stream web portal.

In the face of ongoing hostilities and Russian disinformation, the partnership with Ukrainian public broadcaster UA: PBC has become a pivotal constituent in supporting Ukrainian citizens in accessing reliable and up-to-date information about events in their homeland.

Handover of broadcasting equipment to Ukraine

As an entity involved in assisting the Ukrainian state and its citizens since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Emitel has donated over PLN 0.5 million worth of radiotelecommunications equipment to the Ukrainian government free of charge. The broadcasting equipment provided, in the form of high-power DVB-T2 digital TV transmitters and VHF radio transmitters, helped to rebuild communication systems damaged by the war.

We fully understand how crucial it is, especially for a country affected by war, to ensure stable transmission of radio and television signals. We hope that the support provided in rebuilding the critical broadcasting infrastructure will contribute to the security of Ukrainian citizens through access to important messages, information and a truthful picture of events.

Through participation in the national voluntary blood donation campaign, we have supported activities promoting wellness and social integration.

Inspired by our colleague who engages in volunteer work, we made a donation for an educational camp for children.

We have transferred funds to a foundation providing long-term help to children who had lost one or both parents as a result of the war in Ukraine.

We never forget about packages to aid those most in need.
