Emitel has expanded its Energy Management System to include its data centre located near Warsaw, a milestone officially confirmed through the renewal of the company’s ISO 50001:2018 certification. The inclusion of the advanced colocation and cloud infrastructure within the scope of this internationally recognised standard demonstrates Emitel’s commitment to optimising energy consumption and supporting the sustainable development of digital services.
Emitel’s state-of-the-art data centre, located on the outskirts of Warsaw, delivers advanced colocation, cloud computing and data processing services. The facility was designed and built in accordance with stringent reliability requirements that exceed the Tier III standard defined by the Uptime Institute. The data centre currently provides 2 MW of computing capacity, with further expansion planned. Bringing this advanced infrastructure under the ISO 50001:2018 certification framework marks an important step in reducing the company’s carbon footprint.
The rapid development of modern technologies, including artificial intelligence, requires substantial computing power, which directly translates into growing electricity demand. By their nature, data centres are highly energy-intensive facilities. In response to the increasing needs of customers across Poland and the Central and Eastern European region, Emitel provides broadcasters, financial institutions, public sector organisations and other clients not only with security and scalability, but also with measurable and transparent energy management practices.
“Entering the data centre market was a natural evolution for Emitel. From the outset, our goal was to ensure that the facility met the highest efficiency standards. Extending ISO 50001 certification to our Data Centre is significant not only from an organisational perspective, but above all because it strengthens our culture of environmental responsibility,” said Maciej Pilipczuk, Chief Executive Officer of Emitel.
The successful renewal of ISO 50001:2018 certification across the entire organisation, with particular emphasis on the data centre operations, confirms that Emitel’s processes comply with internationally recognised standards. The efficient and responsible use of resources remains a key priority in the company’s day-to-day operations.
